Summary:
This workshop unpacks autistic women and girls, and the “female” autistic phenotype
Aim:
To change how we understand the AFAB (Assigned female at birth) autistic presentation, recognising the diversity of the phenotype.
Duration:
- 3 hours including 5-10 min breaks every hour

Learning outcomes:
- How hormones and society impact on presentation
- Is it a “milder” form of autism? Understanding how AFAB autistics, are misdiagnosed and misunderstood
- Mental health in the autistic AFAB population
- Discovering authenticity of self and the impact of longterm masking
Prior Knowledge:
- An understanding of the neurodiversity paradigm
- An understanding of neuro-affirming practice
- A basic understanding of what autism is
